Joint Small Projects Fund
Joint Small Projects Fund Bulgaria – Turkey is financed by Phare Programme Cross-Border Cooperation 2003 set up by the European Union. This is the first group of projects, concerning cross-border cooperation between Bulgaria and Turkey under Phare Programme. On the basis of their development during the next years there will be prepared projects on a larger scale .
The overall purpose of the Joint Small Projects Fund is to support small scale, “people-to-people” and “soft” projects for development of activities with cross-border impact.
The priority fields of the Joint Fund for Small Projects concern the economic development, environment, tourism, culture, institutional capacity development at regional level, planning and development researches. In the economic development sector small projects consolidating the economic basis of the border region and creation of conditions for building of cross-border structures and partnership between organizations, supporting the business are supported. In the environment field projects solving a concrete problem in the region are supported. The projects for tourism development include researches, planning, specific training for the specialists, responsible for the tourism development in the corresponding regions. The cultural projects refer to cooperation between the settlements from the two sides of the border. The consolidation of the institutions in the border regions has significant role for the regions in which the information access is lessen . They refer to the trade chambers and associations, NGO’s. The planning and development researches are mainly connected with researches before the project elaboration for future investment projects.
The overall indicative total grants amount available for Bulgaria is 500 000 Euro. The amount for individual projects is between 10.000 and 100.000 Euro.
The projects have to be implemented in the border region between Bulgaria and Turkey. For Bulgaria this includes the districts of Haskovo, Yambol or Burgas. For Turkey the provinces of Edirne and Kirklareli.
Non profit making legal organization located within the relevant border region will be supported on the project, as well as municipalities and local authorities associations, organizations, established or managed by municipalities, professional chambers (ex. commercial, economic, agricultural etc.), schools and other educational institutions, foundations and civil associations.
A mandatory requirement is the candidates to have at least one partner from Turkey.
