The Lyubimets Municipality is located in the eastern part of Haskovo Region on the territory of 335 sq. kms. It covers one of the most fertile parts of the Thracian lowland. To the south and north in its territory are situated two of the most interesting naturally mountainous mountains – the Eastern Rhodopes and Sakar. The two mountains, as well as the bordering riverside of the Maritza River, are of international importance for the conservation of a large number of globally threatened species.
The municipality has a very good transport geographic location – it is a crossroads connecting Western and Central Europe to the Middle and Far East. There are four protected areas and one Natura 2000 protected area. Near the town, in the eastern direction, is one of the biggest deposits of a marsh snowdrop in Bulgaria.
Lyubimets Municipality is a traditionally agricultural municipality. It has created the largest informal and unregulated market of agricultural produce in Eastern Bulgaria. The farmers in the municipality of Lyubimets are master gardeners, and in recent years the municipality has been expanding the areas with polythene greenhouses where predominantly early tomatoes and cucumbers are grown.
